A city council is launching a new website hoping it will encourage residents to contact the authority via the web rather than by telephone or face-to-face.

More than 20million patient calls to GP surgeries result in an engaged tone each month, according to research submitted to the Department of Health.

HomeServe will increase the number of home workers it employs – more than trebling the amount of personnel from 21 to 75. The home emergency and repair service is growing the number as it prepares for the onset of calls it expects to receive during the winter period.
