This is the first time that a public service organisation has gained the top spot, with Guinness Northern Housing Association gaining an impressive score of 95.21%. Wokingham Borough Council also waved the flag for public bodies by bagging the best email customer service accolade.

The full top ten performers were:

4. First Rate
5. Dignity Caring Funeral Services
6. ASDA Stores
7. Britvic
8. Coca Cola Enterprise
9. Worcester Bosch Group
10. Royal Bank of Scotland

Getting in to the top ten was tougher than in previous years, with the overall score needed to gain top ten status three per cent higher than last year.
